Department for Education: Family Information Direct, a digital strategy
Background
Following the implementation of the Childcare Act (2006), The Department for Education wanted to transform the quality, choice, provision and awareness of parental information and support services.
What we did, and how
We helped the Department by developing a strategy that set out the opportunities to introduce a wider range of direct-to-parent channels and foster innovation in delivery both at client and supplier level.
We analysed parents’ needs and existing information services; indentified which parents were likely to be at risk of not coping in their parenting roles; undertook research to understand what services, channels and topics parents were interested in and needed support on; and we modeled how often parents were likely to make use of the support available, to predict the impact on services.
